Mary Queen of Peace has given me the best years of my life. Through Kindergarten all the way to 8th grade I have many made so many amazing memories. In Kindergarten I remember with Mrs. Cordia, always wanting be next to her desk at nap time. First grade with Mrs. Broshears and picking out of the Mystery Buckets, wondering what I would get. Second grade with Mrs. Blessing and Mrs. Shultz, having people make a book out of my favorite things for my birthday. Third grade with Ms. Dyn, now Mrs. Markoski, trying to get a jar full of marbles for a fun pizza party. In Fourth grade, with Mrs. Venker, all her tricks for teaching us all 50 states. In Fifth grade with Mrs. Oberkirsch, learning about Mesopotamia, with her lovely

Every grade has one thing they focus on for their stewardship, for example, helping the elderly, protecting God’s creations, and our 8th grade stewardship, social justice. Through Stewardship at MQP you do many stewardship activities, as we call them, where you do something that goes along with your topic. For social justice this year, my grade split into groups and went to different organizations to help out where we could. We went to Webster Rock Hill MInistry, Join Hands East St.Louis, Equine Therapy, and Depaul USA. My group went to Depaul USA where we cleaned up empty apartment buildings and got them ready for homeless people to live in. It made me very happy to think about how many people we were …show more content…
It was a challenge, but one that pushed me to where I am today. I have been prepared for high school more than I could have asked for. I know all 50 states, I know cursive, I know how to express myself through writing, I know how to read, I know how to solve any equation you throw at me and so much more. I couldn’t have asked for better teachers. All of my teachers have helped me with my personal learning and with anything else. They have really prepared me for high school. Along with all academic subjects, I have learned so much about virtues. Each month MQP chooses one virtue to focus on. VBRD is a time after mass where we talk about the virtue of the month and do activities about them. I am so happy with how much I know about the

The horrors and inhumanity displayed from slavery is painful when reading actual testimony from a slave in the book titled The History of Mary Prince by Mary Prince. Her book makes the reader wonder whether a master views slaves as humans. However, when reflecting back to the overall history of slavery, it can be understood that slaves were never considered as human beings. During the period between the dawn of the Roman Empire and the end of the American Civil War, slavery was an efficient and traditional — if not cruel — method to produce goods at low prices. The book provides the reader with many examples where slaves are actively abused by their masters, even to the point of death for some slaves.…

What do you remember from high school? Friends, sports, pep rallies, standardized tests. You wouldn 't normally think of standardized tests when thinking of things you remember from high school, but for many students that struggled with them in high school it is a large part of their high school experience. We should stop using Standardized tests in Texas schools because they have changed the way teachers teach in a detrimental way, have delayed students’ graduations, add unneeded stress to students’ and put a strain on already tight school budgets.…

As a black African American woman, I have seen and heard about the pain and humiliation in our history. The legacy that is presented to us is slashed and torn into bits, but even with the dark lines of our ancestor’s anger and pain, we see their work through the numerous achievements. Mary Church Terrell was a powerful woman that helped to pave the way for blacks to speak out against racial prejudices. Terrell depicts characteristics of resistance in her life through protests and life tragedies.…

Freshman year of high school is scary for anyone, the enormous transition from being a top dog at middle school, back to an underclassman; wondering if your high school teachers will be as unforgiving as your 8th grade teacher’s descriptions, or even just that uncertainty that comes along with any major change. As a homeschooler entering school system for the first time, and having completely skipped 8th grade, it was terrifying. I had no idea what to expect, I worried about being behind the other students, or having missed something in my homeschooling curriculum, even interacting with other kids was all unfamiliar. It definitely didn’t help that, at 13, I was the youngest person in the building. Just two days into the school year, I discovered that P-AP world…

This semester has been a very difficult, stressful, and challenging for me . High School can not compare the amount of stress I had to face in this fall semester at Hostos Community College. However, it is like that with many other students because making a transition is frightening and many of us find a way to run away from it. Everything in life is a challenge and it is scary as well, but for those who want to study it all starts of with college. It took me more than words to actually realize the reality that I am actually living right at this very moment because, I was not expecting so many things to fall apart, but somehow becoming whole again.…
