She could give us lessons through presentation. I think the presentation and lessons can be made by her own experiences and knowledge of the job that she is into. Compare to her life, even though I am a college student, I do not have any experiences of working related to my dream job at all. I only thought that I am young, so I do not have to work. I think this is childish mind for me now. Therefore, through the lessons, I learned a lesson that I should get experiences like her, so I can be an expert and help the others like her. Since I have F-1 visa, which is a student state without working permit for a year in hospitality major, I cannot work in the United States for a freshmen year in college. I am able to work after January in Korea. Thus, I would work in Korea during winter break. It will be only two weeks of working, but I think it is good amount of time to get to know what the work is alike. She told us how knowing trends is important in event planning. I deem that not only event planner need to know the trends. To succeed in any professional career, knowing trends is the most important part. My dream job in the future is data analyzer. The data analyzer is a job analyzing data came from customers, then determine or give advice to CEO how the direction of companies in certain decision should go. To analyze the data coming from customers, I should know what

I also designed the invitation and used the agency’s logo to spruce up the invitation. I submitted the rough to the coordinator for revisions.…

Her positive and negative aspects of teaching sound very much what I picture mine to be like. I would find it very rewarding to have a student choose a career related to FACS and know that I made a difference in their life by helping them choose a career that they like. Even seeing my students be able to use the knowledge that they learned in my class in the real world would be extremely rewarding. The negative part for me would also be the same. I get concerned over what regulations will be in place when I become a teacher.…

I attended a speaker event representing Land O’Lakes Inc. on October 25, 2016 from 6 PM to 7 PM in Blegen Hall, which was presented by Adam. To briefly discuss about the speaker’s education, he finished his undergraduate degree in History and is currently an MBA candidate at the Carlson School of Management with a particular focus on supply chain management. One of the reasons he decided to join the Carlson School of Management to pursue a graduate degree is to seek more career opportunities as he could not find a job within his field after his graduation from college. Besides his academic career, he has a five-year work experience in the Land O’Lakes. Inc.…

Refection: The Unconventional Guest Speaker In Business 101, as a class, we were introduced to various guest speakers, who worked in some aspect of business. The guest speaker, who stood out the most, was Jared Loftus. Unlike the majority of guest speakers who discussed how great their company is and their success, Loftus took a different approach. Instead of focusing on his success, he discussed his “failures” in depth, which (in my opinion) was the most important lesson of all.…

In large corporations managing all of the many aspects of cultural diversity is no easy task. If a company wants to thrive, it must be able to include talent from all types of people (Bucherati). Many people mistake diversity for just race, but diversity includes all differences, such as, income, gender, sexual orientation, ideologies, and most known, race. There are many ways a company can go about utilizing all people, and diversifying their company; however there are some limitations, and sacrifices a company must make to remain so profitable. Sunday, August 28th was the Brauer Museum of Art’s opening reception for two new, and extremely different, exhibitions. External Reflections- Internal Wars and True to Form: Works from Chicago Sculpture International will be displayed six days a week at the Brauer Museum of Art until December 11th. The reception was filled with elderly art lovers, art majors, and freshman looking to fill one of their seven required fifth hour credits. Being both an art major and a freshman seeking to fill her fifth hour requirements, I found the reception simultaneously mundane and intriguing at the same time. External Reflections- Internal Wars is a series of photographs taken by artist Louise Witkin-Berg in 1975.…

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely and formally thank you for all you have done and made possible in helping me progress throughout my time here at SPC. My experience as a member of the Honors College has enhanced my life through the fellowship, better course environments, and the exceptional research conference opportunities and exposure that your leadership has provided. From a student’s standpoint ― especially an “unconventional” student such as myself ― you have given not only fresh and unique opportunities to myself and our membership, but you have given your heart and soul with the purpose of adding an advanced and totally positive learning environment. I know many Honors College alumni privately express this very same message to you ― but your total giving of time, energy, creativity, and true caring should receive far more formal acknowledgement.…

Excitement lead me to be earlier than expected in the office of my event planner. “Let’s get this party started” I remembered him saying. We sat and delight ourselves with the presentation his team had prepared for us, creativity at its best. The invitation designs, the furnitures, the food and beverage catering, the whole party as a design was a fantasy that lead me to the whole college major issue. I felt enjoyment and pleasure during the planification of my “quinceañera” and it made me think in my passion’s bubble.…

While some people may think of event management as a degree in party planning, it is gaining credibility as a legitimate career. The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council created event management standards which also led to the definition of exactly what an event is (Robertson, 2015). An event is “a social form that organizes interaction in a distinctive way” or the “gathering of three or more people who agree to assemble for a purpose ostensibly related to the functioning of an organization or group” (Beaulie, 2004). According to Michael Auerbach, “in 2006 there were 51,000 event planners in the U.S. and 39% of those were within an event planning company” which demonstrates the grand size of the industry and its obvious importance to society (2015). The purpose of this paper is to explore a career in event planning.…
