This song accurately portrays Mia’s feelings toward other people and towards her parents. She felt like an outcast for most of her young life, which led her to become a troublemaker and get in with the wrong crowd. Only did she gain the attention of her father when she did something bad, and in these instances it was negative attention. Her father had an ominous attitude towards her from the time she was born, especially when she told him that she was going to school to become an art teacher. Along with photos of her sketches and the song “All By Myself”, you would also find a class picture of her with her students on her thumb drive. Mia cares a lot about her students, and she always encourages them to do their best. Many people assume that Mia is an egotistical, self-centered, rich spoiled brat. The people who assume this have never really met Mia. Although she grew up in a wealthy family, she was destitute of love and acceptance. Her father was very rude and disrespectful to her, frequently making comments about how irresponsible she was and how much of a disappointment she was. We’ve all probably heard of the saying ‘everybody makes mistakes.’ While we might sometimes find it reassuring in certain situations, it’s never acceptable with murder. Of course, Flannery O’Connor isn’t claiming that everyone’s guilty of homicide; but her short story ‘A Good Man is Hard to Find’ makes it clear that everybody’s guilty of something. This evil tale of a pretentious and self absorbed grandmother’s vacation with her family is steeped in connections to Christian faith, such as Flannery’s thematic emphasis that “All have sinned.” From the beginning, she didn’t want to go to Florida and tries to convince her son Bailey that they should go to Tennessee instead, using the excuse that there is an escaped convict on the loose.…

Furthermore, another representation of women’s independence lies in the fact that the idea of falling in love and being with someone would make them dependent on that person. The song presents a dismal environment where the listener feels trapped in a situation that appears hopeless. During the refrain, the song states that “I could never be what you wanted me to be,” which can be perceived by the listener as that the person performing the song was unable to attain perfection in someone’s mind who is important to them. During the bridge of the piece, the performer screams the phrase “does anyone care enough,” which implies that the performer feels hopeless, in the sense that they feel alone. Although these are only two lines from this verbose piece, these two lines illustrate the general mood of the piece.…

It is definitely important to remember Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories because it helps us understand the hardships they faced as a culture and it can further help us recognise how we can close the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people share four main world views; culture, land, place and country and relationships. The world view, relationships, is conveyed many times in each of the literary texts by relating back to certain events that Aboriginal elders faced. Three texts that clearly represent the world view relationships are,; Change the Game, by the Colli Crew; Treaty, by Yothu Yindi and Took the Children Away, by Archie Roach. The Colli Crew’s song, Change the Game, is about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people- mostly describing the people of the past; in the text, it states that they are singing from north Queensland near the border.…
