After appearing in his debut with Eglevsky Ballet, his stock as a credible dancer took a hike. In 1972 he was invited to an acclaimed theatre, "The American Ballet Corps". A year after, he was officially announced as a soloist. According to notablebiographies.com, "He was soon recognized as one of the most exciting male dancers to emerge in quite some time" His win at a soviet dominated competition, International Ballet Olympics, left Lewis Segal of "Los Angeles Times", in disbelief saying, "[Bujones had] an impeccable sense of style that constantly refined his state-of-the-art virtuosity." Soon after he was named principal dancer in the American Theatre, continuing his career there until the year 1985. He then spent the rest of his time serving as a guest artist for 60 ballet companies for 8 years, during that time though, he served a small stint in “Ballet Mississippi” as artistic director, until he was offered a job at the American Ballet once again in 1989 until 1995, when he finished a farewell performance.
