Rising Action: Marvins father brings Marvin to the observatory, where the entrance and exit are. At that moment, Marvin knew he was going outside for the first time in his life.
Climax: Marvin and his father reach a vantage point to take a glimpse of the earth. At first sight, Marvin thought Earth was a beautiful planet but as soon as his eyes were no longer blinded by the glare, he realized that the Earth was glowing.
Falling Action: The father explains how the lunar colony is the last vestige of mankind after the nuclear war. It will be centuries before the deadly radiation passes and human life can fill the empty world.

The protagonist is Marvin. The antagonist in the story is society during the nuclear war on Earth. Mankind itself made the Earth uninhabitable. Now the colony has to live unnaturally on the moon for countless years due to the actions of previous societies.
5. Marvin is a 10 year old boy who is curious about his surroundings, "Marvin could see the curiously shaped structures clusteringround the head of mine". Marvin is observant, "Marvin slowly realized that something very strange was happening in the land ahead". He is excited, "...Marvin knew with a sense of rising excitement that there could be only one goal left". His understanding of life itself goes through serious changes as he discovers that Earth is not the beautiful, peaceful planet that he dreams of.
6. The setting is a human colony on the Moon, some time in the future after a nuclear holocaust on Earth. The colony conatins the only human survivors of the human race. Marvins dad takes him on a pilgrimmage to Earth. It appears beautiful but still deadly in the afermath of the nuclear
