Marvel movies: revolution or scam?
Since Iron Man, Marvel started to develop a new model of movies: all their movies (and super -heroes) are linked all together until the big reunion of them all, like in the Avengers. They planned to do it for what they call a second “arc”: Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2 and finally a new Avengers movie in 2016. But as this model is also used by DC Comics for Batman VS Superman movie, we can ourselves one question: Is this model sustainable and desirable?
Firstly, we’ll see that this model brought a lot of things to current movies and is the fashionable model. Secondly, I’ll show that the model has some downsides and can become tiresome. Finally, we’ll try to see what will be the future of superheroes

These movies, like Thor or Captain America, present the character, its story: this give a better understanding of the audience on the character. When the reunion movie or a crossover happens, the director hasn’t to present the character. The audience is already attached to it and it allows to focus on the story.
The Marvel model became a new economic model in the movie industry. Producers can make a economic plan for 5 years. In a dodgy market like movies market in which a lot of money is involved, this is a very interesting evolution.
With the artistic success of Avengers, it created a lot of expectations for producers and also the audience. Marvel proved that their movie model can produce blockbusters that can really impress the audience. And they also proved that this model is financially viable.
However, the Marvel model has some downsides. Indeed, the movies which concerned only super-hero seem to lose their interest. The stories have less importance because people are waiting for the next big Avengers

Marvel has planned to keep his model until the third Avengers movie. They will introduce some new superheroes like Ant Man. The risk is a certain weariness of the audience. Producers try to hire young directors with a strong personality in order to create a realistic and interesting universe for each movie.
DC Comics decide to answer to Marvel: they began their own “arc” with Man of Steel and the Batman VS Superman movie will be the biggest contender for Avengers 2. They try to catch them up but it could be very risky: the DC universe has not been built as the Marvel one was at the time of Avengers.
At the end of the day, the Marvel model changed a lot of things in the movie business. It created a new movie structure that is replicated by many directors, and a new business plan which allows to plan movies for next 5 -6 years. However, it has downsides and Marvel has to be aware that it can bring some lassitude of the audience. Marvel must update his model if they want it to survive some more

DC on the other hand, is all about the depressing highlights of the protagonist’s life, an example of this would be in the beginning of Batman VS Superman where it shows Batman's parents dying in slow motion and Superman's adopted father dying. Another thing that Marvel does is giving more backstory and insight into the antagonists and villains of their movies. An example of this would be Hela in the new Thor movie because Hela was trapped for a millenia and wants revenge for trapping her. She was imprisoned after her behavior was reinforced by her father, and while she goes about it in a way that most of us wouldn’t her reasons are very human and much easier to relate to. Another area where Marvel and DC usually differ is the nature of their villains.…

Almost every Marvel character has one super human ability, where it comes down to one person with super strength, one person with super speed, and one person with the ability to fly. In DC the characters have more than one ability, for example Superman doesn’t just have eye-beams or incredible strength or incredible speed or the ability to fly, but all of those and more (McKenzie, 2010). Marvel movies are better than Dc, and why is that, on an average since the 2000`s marvel movies have averaged a 60 percent of Fan who voted they like marvel more while Dc movies only get 47 percent of fan votes . Marvel is more related to real life in terms of cities like New York, where in Dc the locations are in outer space or in places no one has heard of before. This has let me to believe that as of now marvel is more favored by fans than DC because of who goes to see the movies and purchase the products, and Marvel sells more than…

Disney purchased Marvel Comics in 2009 as an intellectual property acquisition, due to its characters and brands being a strategic fit for Disney’s family-oriented brands (Gamble & Turnipseed, 2014, p. C-324). Thus, its characters such as Spiderman, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and other superheroes were distributed throughout other Disney businesses, including its theme parks, retail stores, and video game business (Thompson et al., 2016, p. 218). Disney’s studio entertainment BU intends to produce two Marvel films a year, such as Captain American 3 to be released this year (Gamble & Turnipseed, 2014, p. C-324; C-333). Besides films, Marvel related television shows are produced and distributed by the media networks BU, such as ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. From these films and TV shows, an array of merchandise is fashioned and distributed by the consumer products division. This synergy is also transferred to the parks and resorts BU in merchandise and the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is even expected to construct an Iron Man attraction.…
