In the early 1980s, people began collecting comics, which helped to bring back sales, as well as motivated Marvel to create special issues. During the mid 1980s, Marvel introduced Star Comics, a series targeted toward young children, and because of all this, Marvel was doing well again. It was this financial rebound that caught the eye of New World Pictures, who bought Marvel for $46 million in 1986. Merely two years later, Marvel was sold again; this time to a subsidiary of McAndrews & Forbes Group, the Andrew’s Group. In 1991, Marvel began selling company stock to the public and then began buying up other companies. It bought both the Fleer Corporation and 46% of Toy Biz, Inc.
