Phase Three of the highly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is drawing to a close with three films scheduled for this year, three for 2018 (one of which is the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War part 1), and two in 2019. At this stage, there is only one movie scheduled after Phase Three, a supposed Spiderman sequel scheduled in 2019. With the end of the arguably largest phase of the MCU near, a lot of the major actors such as Chris Evans (Captain America) have been rumoured to be leaving behind their famous roles. This leaves space wide open for some of the other beloved Marvel heroes to get a moment to shine on the silver screen. An obvious choice for this is the Young Avengers.

Many fans of comic book movies have expressed wanting more diverse superheroes, as opposed to the vast majority being straight, white males. Within the Young Avengers, they have had multiple black characters, a Latina character, multiple gay characters, a bisexual character, a genderfluid character, and characters who have mentioned they would be open to relationships with those of the same-sex (something that’s good to point out is that none of these characters are blatant stereotypes either, even if that’s how they originally appeared in previous comics). The Skrulls, an alien race, is apparently co-owned by both Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox, which causes complications in the origin of Teddy Altman (AKA Hulkling); Teddy is half-Skrull, as well as half-Kree. Introducing the Kree side of him would be simple as they have been introduced in both the 2014 film Guardian’s of the Galaxy and the popular television series Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D, which are both parts of the MCU. But it’s unknown exactly which Skrull’s Marvel Studios owns, and whether or not they would have to change Teddy’s
