Marvel Cinematic Universe Manipulation

The newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Doctor Strange, finally released its trailer, with a prevalent emphasis on time, its manipulation, and the implications of said manipulation (along with magic!). Naturally upon its release, the “nerd hype” flowed through my veins, and almost immediately I scoured the internet for beginners’ level mystical spells that I could perform on my own. In the middle of my research on the “Sorcerer Supreme”, I began to reflect about time and how it was more important to me now than ever.
In the second grade, time was of very little significance. As a child, all I thought of was having fun with my friends, because that was all that mattered. I didn’t care about time, because “it would go on

Parents with children and young lovers would probably want to be in the center and slow time down. The entry talks about how we have to decide whether it’s better to stay near the center of time and be content with life, or do we go outside where, “Life is a vessel of sadness,” to live life nobly. Both areas have many pros and cons, but deciding which one is the best may be more difficult then what you would think. Everyone has a time that they would probably love to just stop in time and cherish. In this story, they reference a girl, who is young and innocent, and the parents that don’t want to let go of that innocence.…

Peter Pettigrew knew he had done the right thing, the sacrifice he had made more than enough to warrant his own feeling of pride. Unfortunately, he knew not everyone—including those who counted the most—would be able to see it that way. Tiny clouds of dust rose as Peter scampered along, determined to not let his aching muscles slow him down. It was hard to gain any sort of fast pace with the space where his toe should have been constantly throbbing. Still, he pushed on, blades of grass scratching at his fur.…

As the clock ticks, I wait anxiously for it to hit 3:23 P.M. All I could think about was football practice. My first game is tomorrow and I am overwhelmed with excitement. Forgetting to pay attention in class the teacher calls on me saying “Sabin, what does the m stand for in y=mx+b?”, me being clueless I look at my notes. Being lucky, another student answers saying “m is slope”.…

I spend my Sunday mornings with frenetic kindergartners. On the first day of the week, the only thing that motivates me to get up before 9 AM is my volunteering position as a teacher’s assistant in Bridgewater Chinese School. The day before I must submerge myself into the sea of high schoolers, I choose to step into the chaos of elementary school. About a quarter of the way through the school year, as I entered the list of red As and Bs into the gradebook, I noticed that one student, Chloe, was getting grades significantly lower than her classmates. Chloe was the smallest kindergartner, the one who carefully positioned her Ariel and Belle princess figurines on her desk before getting out her books, the one who spent most of class undoing and redoing her curly hazel pigtails, and often the last one to toddle up to my desk to hand in the weekly quiz, when the…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

It was a scorching summer day at Dierks High School. The weather was sublime and and the birds were chirping. This was the most supreme day of the summer, and the day that beat all others in school. This day at school was filled with excitement, and most of all joy. That morning I couldn’t think of anything besides the day that laid ahead. Although I was excited I still dreaded leaving the comfort of my warm bed. After I realized it was already 10:20, I shot out of bed and scurried to the shower so I wouldn’t be late. It might’ve been the fastest shower i’d ever taken. Breakfast was the last thing on my mind, even though I knew that I should eat.…

These past three years have been the longest and the shortest of my life. The seemingly endless homework, long term assignments, and Wednesdays that felt more like Mondays made it seem like middle school would never end. Each individual day felt it took forever, but somehow, I feel like three years have been compressed into three weeks. I remember the first thing anyone said to me at Bigelow. “Welcome to Mr. Spiegels homebase, where people jump out from behind windows and hide under recycling bins”.…

Each day that I get older, the more I realize the sand in the glass slides by faster.
