JD Lawrence did an superb job writing because he took small details into consideration on both characters. He made sure that the audience was attracted to the play and kept their interest by adding famous songs known to college students. By doing this he captured the audience into focusing on the play and making sure we understood why the play was really written. Lawrence also sang who of his own song in the play to give a break and add a different dimension to the play. Lawrence wanted to make sure that he was heard and he was. Martin Luther's character is played by Victor Landol. JD Lawrence could not have gotten a better character to play him. The way Landol portrayed himself and the voice he used was so powerful like how Luther sounded when you watch his documentaries. He played with such confidence and his body language was a copy of Luther. It is not easy to play a famous person in history but Landol accepted the challenge and came strong at the end. Malcolm X was played by Dexter Mckinney and he did a fine job like Landol. The little tiny mannerisms he used was an exact replica of Malcolm X’s. Any individual could tell that he thoroughly studied Malcolm because of his accurate execution. The character Lucky was played by JD Lawrence and he showed himself as an angry individual because of what happened to his brother. He first displayed anger and then later changed due to Malcolm and Martin's talks. The transition he showed flowed perfectly throughout the play. There is nothing negative to say about any character because the time and effort they put into their characters
