During the 16th century Protestantism referred mainly to two schools of thought that arose in the reformation, and later during the 17th century the word had a different meaning the word was used to denote “orthodox” protestantants as apposed to those who were regarded by “anglicans” as unorthodox, these groups would be considered the Baptists or Quakers. Protestants share an adherence to the centrality of scripture as well as a doctrine of salvation through faith in Jesus Creist. The different protestant “denominations” have either kept or rejected the roman catholic ways of worship. “Anglican and lutheran churches have maintained liturgies and rituals similar to thoose of the roman catholic church, whereas denominations, such as Baptist, Presbyterians, pentecostals, and united church of crest have developed less litiurgical forms of worship”.
