Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in Atlanta on 15 January 1929. His Grandfather, and father were pastors of African-American churches. Martin King Jr. attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, a segregated school, and then went to study at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania, and later moved on to Boston University. During his college career he became more aware of the unfair and segregated treatment of blacks. He was for the most part influenced by Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolent protest, and his Baptist faith.

When King was 24 he married Coretta Scott, a . King then began to pastor at a church called Dexter Avenue Baptist Church located in Montgomery of Alabama. During his time as a social reform activist, King was able to voice
