It was started when Rosa Parks, at the time 42 years old, refused to give up her seat to a few white gentlemen. This put her in a jail, but it was a great turning point. Now they would start THE boycott that lasted for a little over a year. With these he was thrown in jail many times for being accused of violent-protests when they hadn’t even happened yet. “We know through painful experience that freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed. Frankly I have never yet engaged in a direct action movement that was "well timed," according to the timetable of those who have not suffered unduly from the disease of segregation. For years now I have heard the word "Wait!" It rings in the ear of every Negro with a piercing familiarity. This "wait" has almost always meant "never." Today there is an organization that helps send food out to people in Africa to help with hunger problems throughout the world . This organization is called FMSC or Feed My Starving Children. Here you will pack bags of dry food for these starving children. You will do this for an hour with a group of 6 people. Every ten minutes you can change your station and overall it is just for a great cause. Time flies when you are at a place where you know that you are doing what has been needed to be done right there and then, and in many other places. I also will serve with and for my family and neighbors and help take care of any needed services. I will take care of their pets, and also, occasionally, do some of their yard work. At school we help the teachers or anyone else after school with whatever projects are needed to be done. We all aspire to be like Dr. King, but to come through we all need to be helping our world to be a better place. To help we can all do the little things to come through like helping neighbors, help a great organization with food, and always help out at school.
