Martin Luther King Do you have a dream? Martin Luther King (MLK) had a dream that came true. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. MLK was a very intelligence person that had skills most people did not have. Martin Luther King attended segregated public school at the age of fifteen. He received a B.A degree in 1948 from Morehouse college. He had a dream and always wanted to be equal to whites and new one day it would happen. MLK was both a Baptist minister and civil-rights activist. Martin Luther King followed in his grandfather’s foot steeps growing up as a child. Going to church was a chore for Dr. King and he wanted to truly make a difference in the world. He grew up in a very difficult time …show more content…
With his death, the country lost not only a significant leader, but also a prominent person who carried the power to change society for the better in many ways. The loss of King did not only effect African Americans, but it also effected all people. Till this day we learn about Martin Luther King in history classes because he was a great leader that was against violence during the civil rights movement. Many people started violence during this time due to anger. People did not have the same rights and it was clearly known. Many people were not happy with this and either was MLK. Throughout my career in school I have been thought that Martin Luther King was Baptist minister and social activist who played a key role in American civil rights movement. The book Becoming King really gave a well history of MLK from when he was a young boy up until he was assassinated. With my history on Martin Luther King and after reading this book it explained why he stood up for his rights. Martin Luther King was just as equal as all the other white men, but people did not agree. King practiced and lead thousands of people to have nonviolent protest to stand up for their rights. King did not plan to lead a civil rights movement, but that changed quickly. I believe that this book was well written and very negligible. However, I have read other books on Martin Luther King and felt that they were a little easier to read and understand. This book gave knowledgably information on Martin Luther King, but I also did some outside research to get a better understanding on what he did throughout his life. This book still did a great job on telling you what Martin Luther King did throughout his life and how it impacted everyone up until this day. I would recommend this book to other people that would like to get an in-depth history on MLK. I still would tell people to look at other biographies because there are many books out there on Martin Luther King that can
