After shooting Dr. King he fled the premises while leaving a blanket covered package in a white Mustang. (Saferstein, 2014). The mustang was recovered a week later with Ray's fingerprints. The package contained a change of clothes, binoculars, high powered rifle equipment, a scope, a radio, some beer cans, and the receipt f0r the binoculars. His fingerprints were also on the beer cans and rifle, and binoculars. He led police on a manhunt for over 2 months and 5 countries. In the 1990's he set off conspiracy theories claiming the government was behind the assassination.
