Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin Luther King had two siblings, Willie Christine and Alfred Daniel Williams King, he was the second oldest. His dad, Martin Luther King Sr, was a baptist minister and his mom, Alberta Williams was a teacher.
During Martin Luther King Jr.’s childhood a lot of racism was going on. There would be different schools for black people and different schools for white people. Almost everywhere black people and white people would be separate.
Martin Luther King Jr, was educated in Atlanta. As a child, he went to Yonge Street Elementary School. He went to high school in David T. Howard Elementary School. Later, he graduated from high school in 1944. In 1945, he got enrolled in Atlanta's Morehouse College and he graduated in 1948. In 1951, he entered Boston University for graduate studies.

In 1959, he went on a book tour in Harlem, NY and he almost got killed. He was stabbed by Izola Curry with a letter opener. The same year he went on his tour, Martin Luther King Jr. resigned his position as the pastor Daxter Avenue Baptist Church to work in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. A year later, he became a co-pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church with his father. A few months later, he got arrested during a protest at a restaurant. He was sentenced for four months until John and Robert Kennedy released
