The peaceful protesting that Martin Luther King directed, frequently got responses of violent threats, beatings, and arrests. Martin Luther King emphasized how important it was that the black community would not bend down to the level of the white hatred people which, they were fighting against. Martin Luther King’s became extremely successful and gave the Civil Rights Movement a motivating honorable impact. In the book, The Civil Rights Movement, the author states, “King’s ability to arouse the spirit of African Americans and give them a sense of involvement in their own liberation was unparalleled” (Winters, 38). If one goes back in time when the real struggle began, before the civil rights movement, there are so many emotions, sadness, anger, and frustration but also pride and admiration that African-Americans had the courage and determination to be treated fairly.
