The difference between the movies, The Core and The Martian, would be the logic of scientific principles and ideas. The Core is a movie; where a team tries to drill to the center of the Earth, so that they can restart the rotation of the Earth by blasting the Earth’s core with nuclear missiles. The movie, The Core, had flaws and errors; in which, causes unrealistic standards for science and unjustified the idea of what would really happen in this kind of situation. The main struggle the team faces in the movie, the core of the Earth stopping its rotation, is the first error that goes against what is known through science about the Earth. The Martian, unlike The Core, had NASA to help produce the movie so the principles applied were realistic and believable. With NASA’s help, I think it brought the movie to justice and gave the scientific knowledge needed for the movie. The idea of the astronaut grabbing soil from Mars and using human feces to plant food was a brilliant idea. In the movie, the astronaut on Mars has to survive for an amount of sols, which is the days spent on Mars and from when he actually arrived to Mars. The sols counted down with the amount of food and oxygen calculated until those sols, helped give the movie a more survival effect to help the mood of the movie. The plan to save the astronaut with the ship was brilliant, using Earth’s gravitational pull and slinging to Mars. The math and how the trajectory was explained helped make the movie actually seem realistic and provided better information. The idea of having scientist do the same work that the astronaut was doing on Mars, made the movie seem more real and actually like what NASA would have done.
