Martha Grimes is well educated and has had a variety of educational experiences. She attended The University of Maryland where she earned her Master's and Bachelor's degrees. She additionally studied poetry at a Writers' Workshop at The University of Iowa. Her career started to pick up when she taught English at The University of Iowa, Frostburg State College, and Montgomery College.
