Martha Dancy is the leader I have observed in my career that inspire myself and others to make a change. Martha became the Director of Nursing (DON) at the skilled nursing facility I was working at the time. Before she took over as a DON she was a nurse on the unit, I have always seen her as a leader, she possesses the qualities to lead, people listened and follow her. She leads by examples and she always offer herself as a resource to others. I learned a great deal from her as a new nurse and I have always admired and want to be a nurse just like her. Even though she has been a nurse for decades, she is open to listen to new ideas from novice nurses and encourage the new nurses to provide research that supports their ideas. Before she got the

She creates a vision and influence goal achievement, performance development and encourage innovation. Martha also recognized her staff and appreciate their contribution to making the job a success. She created an environment where the staff and leaders engage in open communication with one another and always looking for a better way to improved organizational culture. There was mutual respect between her and the staff. I always say she is my mentor, because a mentor provides guidance, encourage self-confidence and instill values to their mentee, which I think I again from working with Martha (Melnyk & Fineout- Overholt, 2015) According to Maxwell’s (2013) five level of leadership I think Martha is at level five, the Pinnacle level. Martha started with the company as a dietary aid, she built her career from bottom up, always trying hard to grow at every level she is at and also invest in helping others grow. She embraced continual improvement and people trust and respect her. I need to be involved more in leadership committees like share governance, involve more in sharing ideas and help in the growth of our unit, involve more in getting thing done at unit
