Judge Danforth, with all due respect, are you really going to believe some foolish little girls with a grudge to hold? If you are then there is something really wrong with you. In fact, I think there is something really wrong with our entire society! Our society is based completely on the good word of God, yet you are taking His word and twisting it into something completely evil. You are trying to hang young, innocent and really family oriented women all because they were accused of being witches. Some girls pretending to be witched by the accused is not real proof. I am no “Devil’s man”! What the girls are doing, that is all pretense. My wife, Giles Corey’s wife, and Francis Nurse’s wife are not witches. Rebecca Nurse is the heart and soul of the church. She is a charitable and honorable woman and she always donates to the church. Martha Corey is also not a witch. She was only reading books for entertainment and no matter what this society thinks, doing something for entertainment is not wrong. Like I said in the beginning, you all have misunderstood God’s word because he wants us to be good Christians and he wants us to be faithful, yet he does not want us to torture ourselves into boredom. And finally, my dear, sweet Elizabeth. She has never lied in her entire life except when she was trying to save me. She is absolutely loyal to me and all I have done is taken advantage of that loyalty and cheated on her. Elizabeth I am really sorry I brought you into this mess; I never meant to. My wife is no witch, she is completely innocent and she does not need to be tried even after she gives birth to my little boy or girl in a year.
