Do you ever think about the mysteries of space? Have you ever wondered if there’s water somewhere besides Earth? Do you think there’s possibly more to the solar system than we know? Mars is the famous red planet we all know of, but it may be more than it seems. To understand the planet of Mars, one must know about its various geographical features, types of weather, and signs of water. The first key of knowledge that you should know about Mars is its many geographical features. Mars is home to many volcanoes including, Mount. Olympus Mons. This volcano is about the size of Arizona and 100 times larger than the tallest mountain in the U.S.A. Mars also has a load of craters, the biggest impact crater is Hellas Planitia. “... It is about 2,300 kilometers (1,400 miles) in diameter and about 9 kilometers (5 miles) deep...” (geology.com) …show more content…
Nice short sleeve weather and comfortable for most activity. “ (Universe today) But, the planet can tend to switch temperature pretty fast. During the same day temperatures at night can drop to -194 degrees Fahrenheit. Weather is an important factor of Mars. The final key of knowledge would be knowing about the signs and evidence of water on Mars. Mars can not support water for a long period of time due to it’s thin atmosphere and cold temperatures. This is why it’s hard for scientists to “track” water. But, it has been found below the surface. “Scientists discovered a slab of ice as large as California and Texas combined in the region between the equator and north pole of the Red Planet” (Space) Since, Mars atmosphere is thin tends to be very chilly it’s more likely we’d find ice than water. Gales crater formed over 3 billion years ago when an asteroid hit Mars. Loads of rocks and soil were splattered across the surface near the crater. NASA sent their rover, Curiosity to investigate since Gales Crater since it had many signs that standing water once was

The connection between my article Mars, the red planet and The Martian by Andy Weir is that Mark Watney uses Mars’s two moons Phobos and Deimos to help him travel to the Pathfinder so he can communicate with NASA for help. When he travels at night he can’t see any of the landmarks like the craters to help him know the direction he is going so he uses Phobos and Deimos to help him travel. “Mars doesn’t have a magnetic field. So I navigate by Phobos. It whips around Mars so fast it actually rises and sets twice a day, running west to east.…

In preparation for the destruction of Earth, humans are to be transported to continue life on the planet Mars. Scientists have been studying this planet for decades. Research and experimentation have shown Mars is capable of supporting human life forms and other organisms. However, the time and money necessary to accomplish such a feat would be astronomical. Matt Williams, the Guide to Space Curator for Universe Today, expresses his opinions on this phenomena in his article, “How Can We Live on Mars?”…

Many have asked the question why doesn't Mars have oceans? A recent breakthrough discovery has confirmed that liquid water does exist on Mars. This means there is the potential for life to exist here. However, this water is very minimal compared to previous levels of water found on Mars. A study done by Geronimo Villanueva and Michael Mumma of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center reveals that Mars used to have at minimum…

Most see a disability as an impairment of normal function; however, some see a disability as a source of creativity and innovation. Being blind means that one does not exist in the perceptual world of sight; on the contrary, that individual may have a greater presence in the perceptual world of touch, taste, smell, and hearing. Therefore, a conclusion may be drawn that a perceptual world is different for each individual but, that perceptual world contributes to the experience of the individual regardless of its constituents. In a few case studies of paradoxical neurological disorders Oliver Sacks illustrates the perceptual words of those who differ from the norm. Oliver Sacks was a British born neurologist that spent the majority of his professional life in the United States.…

The Moon mass is 1/81 of the Earth's mass and the Earth's gravity is 1/6 of gravity on the Earth's surface, meaning that if you weigh 60 kg on Earth, your weight on the Moon will be 10 kg. If you can easily carry a 30-kilogram bag on the ground, you can easily carry a 180-kilogram bag on the moon. If you can easily jump on the surface of the earth to a height of half a meter, you can climb as high as 3 meters. Also, if you have a pendulum clock that vibrates on the ground 60 times a minute, it will vibrate on the moon about 360 times per minute.…

The article I had chosen came from the magazine Astronomy and it titled “How moon dust will put a ring around Mars.” Phobos, one of the larger martian moons is making its way towards Mars and will eventually hit the gravitational line of Mars. The force will break apart this moon and in result, Phobos will turn into boulders, rocks ,and dust orbiting Mars. Pieces of the moon that do not fall into the orbit will end up crashing into the surface of Mars, causing more craters. This is predicted to happen twenty five to seventy five million years from now, but Mars will end up having its own ring system like the gas giants.…

One of these images is what appears to be a face that has become commonly known as the "Face on Mars". This face photo was originally released in 1976 and has been in discussion by many groups ever since the release. Although some evidence had already been found in 2000 because of gullies, this idea was very controversial. Scientists believe, due to observations, that at one point, Mars was covered by oceans and rivers. It was once able to support life in some of its areas because of its warm and wet temperatures. Yet, owing to its small size it has less gravity and a thinner atmosphere than Earth. Evidently, 87% of water has been lost to space due to evaporation.…
