Going back to the beginning of time, marriages have been connecting families together between the bond of two people. Normally marriage is a ceremony that is often officiated by a pastor or judge, typically done in front of family or friends, but a few are done as a private event between the two people getting married. This side of the argument, supported by laws made by the people, whereas the other side is a bunch of opinions or beliefs that not everyone share. Homosexuals won the freedom to marry whomever they want in June of 2015, that is when the Supreme Court ruled gay marriage legal in all fifty states. Not allowing gay marriage now is declared unconstitutional nonetheless taking away freedoms that the United States offers. Though same-sex couples cannot procreate, they can adopt, creating a wonderful, loving home for children in the foster care system or for those who get adopted from foreign countries. Many people will say that gay marriage should be illegal on the grounds that it was always the other way, but tons of rules were, “always that way,” until they were forced to change. The United States, known for it’s changes involving the rights of its people, starting way back at the beginning of the country when the founding fathers wanted to be their own nation, including their own freedoms, but it wasn’t too long ago when the majority of people thought that women should not have any rights, but now the majority of people couldn’t imagine the country without women having rights, the same goes for same-sex marriages. They’ll say phrases like, “them being in a same-sex marriage does not affect you, so move on with your life.” No matter what kind of relationship it is, relationships end every day. Heterosexual marriages end as well as same-sex marriages, seeing that both types of marriages end, how are they any different? Considering that they both involve two people who want to be merry as a consequence of the other person causes them to be that way, they both involve fighting, causing them both to end the same way. According to research those that participate in same-sex marriages (1.1%) are less likely to divorce than heterosexual couples (2%) on an annual basis, maybe the reason behind the lower divorce rate for same-sex marriages is on the grounds that they feel like they need to prove that they can make their relationships work, seeing that they are willing to work harder for their
