In today society people are getting married later due to the higher number of divorce among married couples. A lot of individuals are either in a cohabitant relationship or they are single. It seems like more people are afraid of marriage without knowing that there are numerous of benefits with being married. According to Mark O’Connell a Harvard psychologist says,” marriage is more than just wearing a ring on your finger. Marriage is an intimate and enduring relationship that grows over time and makes you a better person”. An article by Linda J. Waite, Does Marriage Matter, mentioned some of the benefits of marriage. Marriage provides onsite readily available partner for both individuals; therefore, Monogamous married couples are to be the most sexually satisfied people in America. UCLA researchers Stuart Perlman and Paul Abrahamson found sexual satisfaction among married couples is enhanced by “absence of sexual anxiety” and the other reason is because they enjoy greater sexual freedom. In the society where sexual disease is higher among individual; monogamous married couples are free from most of the worries of out of wedlock sexuality such as fear of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, and fear of rejection. Psychiatrist Paul Meier says “a commitment to lifelong marriage is a great motivator to make things better; it encourages constructive communication, negotiation, compromise, and sensitivity to the other’s needs factors which number of research studies have found to contribute significantly to sexual satisfaction”. Who you sleep with has more influence on your future than what you eat, what bank you use or what time you go to
