Marriage is a special bond made between two people who, basically, pledge their lives to each other. When a couple gets married, they make a vow to stay together forever, or at least until parted by death. The vow of ‘forever’ is broken in more than half of American marriages. A divorce is the untying of the knot and renunciation of the promises made to each other by a couple in the marriage ceremony. Due to the way that Americans have developed their society, divorces are more common today than ever before. The divorce rate has continuously increased though the passing years. Cheating can happen when a spouse proceeds with an opportunity of an affair. For instance, a couple was married for twelve years when the husband walked in on his wife with another man. The women met the man at a local bar a few nights prior to being caught. As soon as the husband was able to contact a lawyer, he filled for divorce. Unfaithfulness is seen in people all around. It can happen with someone that knows both spouses very well, like a babysitter. A man set up cameras to see if his wife was cheating on him while we were at work. One day the women found some tapes in her bedroom and decided to watch them. She quickly found that the tapes were of her husband sleeping with the babysitter. The married quickly ended. Infidelity can cause a couple to separate or it can allow a couple to grow closer together. Some spouses found that being caught has made the marriage stronger because the spouses found that they were drifting away from each other. The spouse may vow to never cheat again, and will never will. Although the infidelity of spouses is the top reason for a married to end, there are other …show more content…
Couples may give up too easily when things get difficult but divorce is fast and simple. One day, after ten years of marriage, a man filled for a separation. The last two years of their marriage, they fight about everything. They fought about anything from little messes made to not wanting to be around each other anymore. Not talking about the problems that were take place around them caused frustration between them. Instead of speaking about their annoyance, they decided that arguing was easier. Arguing caused them to not get along at all. Now that they are not together, the couple feels as if they gave up way too easily. Some spouses cannot handle aggravation easily so they simply just give up. If they worked through their differences, the may find that it made the relationship stronger. Working through difficulty situations can show a couple how to communicate together equally. This may make them closer and more involved with each other. A couple should never give up on a relationship without making an effort to work through

Although marriage has long been associated with love and romance, an unhealthy marriage can pose serious complications on a family. With 49 percent of all marriages in the United States ending in divorce, divorced persons often consider remarriage, believing that the next partner they select is truly “the one” (Cox & Demmitt, p. 450, 2014). Although one would think that a person with previous marital experience would be more knowledgeable in what they are seeking in a new spouse (Cox & Demmitt, p. 485, 2014), love and marriage continue to deceive many people (Marano, para. 10-11, 2000). Furthermore, persons seeking remarriage following a divorce are left in a vulnerable state that cause them to make irrational decisions (Marano, para.…
