Divorce is a serious problem and we see that is on the rise in the Bahamas. There are many ways we can prevent marriages from falling apart.
Communication is important in any relationship but it is especially important in marriages. Communication helps strengthen their bond. Talk to your spouse. Ask about their day, their interests, and etc. Your spouse will appreciate the time spent talking. They will feel intimacy just from talking to you. Spouses don’t communicate their emotions in an effective way. They argue and fight and cannot resolve their problems. So the feelings of bitterness, resentment, or anger continue to linger. Don’t always be defensive to what your spouse is saying. You and your spouse should be able constructive criticism.

Take your spouse out on a date. This shows to them that you care about them and want to be in a relationship. Compliment them constantly. A compliment about their anything makes them feel loved. Hold their hand. Do the simple things with them like watching TV and taking walks together. Helping them out with chores around the house. Saying ‘I love you’. All of this help strengthen the marriage and make them be able to appreciate each other better.
Getting each other space is also important in a marriage. Not being together all the time gives you freedom and time to focus on yourself. The time apart from each other gives you time to think about what you did wrong and ways you can fix it. You can keep the relationship fresh and exciting by being away from each other. Sometimes you need space in a relationship so you both can grow and better as a person. Being clingy can hurt the relationship. You should have enough trust in your spouse to let them be free and not think that they are cheating on

You are always going to have fights with your spouse and they aren’t going to give you what you need all the time.
