The main marriage was the marriage between Stanley and Stella. Stanley was an abusive drunk with all the power and Stella just let him treat her bad. For example Stanley hit Stella and she left for the night. Stanley was so upset that he called out, “ I want my baby down here. Stella, Stella!”(sc.3,pg.66) so Stella went back to him. Which proves that Stanley is in control of Stella and their relationship. On top of being in control and abusive to Stella he was also abusive to Blanch. An example of that was When Blanche was explaining that she lost her family’s home Belle Reve and Stanley did not believe her. He kept trying to convince Stella that Blanche was lying by making comments like,“ It looks to me like you have been swindled, baby, and when you’re swindled under the Napoleonic code I’m swindled too. And I don’t like to be swindled”(Sc.2,pg.33). Along with proving that Stanley is bitter towards Blanche it proves that Stanley really only cares about himself. Stanley does not just verbally abuse Blanch but he physically abuses her by raping her. Before he raped her they got into a fight and said “ Tiger-tiger! Drop the bottle-top! Drop it! We’ve had this date with each other from the beginning”(sc.10 pg.162) which proved that he had the intention of raping Blanche and cheating on his wife. This traumatic experience causes Blanche to go “crazy”. Stella became concerned with Blanche’s health and called out some doctors to take her away. Now that Blanche was gone Stanley and Stella could go back to their normal
