Marlise Munoz was found on her kitchen floor by her husband. She was pregnant with her second child when this took place. Her husband “Erick Munoz” had to be having a feeling of disbelief, when he saw his wife laid out on their kitchen floor. Marlise was making her son a bottle before she passed out and she was there for an hour. She was then rushed to John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, Texas. The Texas Advance Directives Act states, “A doctor may not withdraw or withhold life sustaining treatment form a pregnant patient.” Even though the Munoz’s didn’t want her to be kept alive. The doctors didn’t have a choice but to because of legal acquisitions. The hospital will keep her on the ventilator until her 14-week-old fetus was delivered or dead. Which the hospital was being protected from liability as it kept the pregnant patient on life support.
