INTRODUCTION
Marks and Spencer,sees CSR as an obligation of organisations in respect to their relationship with the communityin which they operate.the point is that,over a number of years ,they have regularly invested 1% or more of their pre-tax profits in the form of cash,employee time and gifts in the kind of charitable causes.they are also willing to support the efforts of their own staff who are involved in charitable causes.
Perhaps,Marks and Spencer have found a way in which the social responsibility of their organization can help the individual’s contribution to social responsibility.
From the point of organisations,the term applied commonly is corporate social responsibility (CSR),and this becoming important as stakeholders themselves

Developing,implementing and promoting CSR policies is a cost to the business when its primary function is to maximize the shareholder value.Adopting CSR policies requires resourcing such as personnel to design,implement,monitor ans control the policies and keep them updated.New processes need to be adopted for manufactures,this can entail significant Research and Development expense.
Set against this,it is argued that ,where public pressure about CSR issues is strong,consumers may abandon the firm and move their business to competitor.However,the research on links between CSR,business performance and customer loyality is far fromcomplete and it is currently impossible to make a robust case for its contribution to shareholder value. hurches,press,TV,academia -greenpeace

There are numerous instances of companies being shown to be acting in violation of the standards expected of them by the public and their stakeholders/customers.the own stated CSR policies,primarily in less develop nations.this has attracted huge negativity publicity in the westrern countries which are their home locations and has resulted ,in some instances,in customer boycotts.however,this effect does not appear to have any permenant effect on their market position.Examples
