Grading Breakup and Policy | The nature of this course does not lend itself to objective questions; generally there are no “right” or “wrong” answers. There are however, different levels of quality which will be measured based on your performance (not effort). Your final grade in the course will be computed using the following weights: Assessment Item | Individual/Group | Percent | Class Participation (10%) & Attendance (5%) | Individual | 15% | Quizzes | Individual | 15% | Mid Exam | Individual | 15% | Term Project(Mid presentation: 5%; Final presentation + progress reports: 15%; Project report: 5%) | Group | 25% | Final Exam | Individual | 30% | |

Assessment Item Details | Class Participation & Attendance | Class attendance is a requirement. If you’re not in class, you can’t participate. You should notify me in advance via email if you cannot attend a class. Missing multiple classes can seriously jeopardize even the best student’s chance of success in this class. Participation is evaluated by the quantity and quality of your input. Thus, students are expected to adequately prepare for all classes. Overall, let’s try to create discussions around interesting, creative and insightful comments that stimulate the minds of the group. Some of the criteria that I will use to judge effective class participation for grading purposes include: * Is the participant a good listener? * Are points made
