Marketing research determines how customers will receive a specific product or service. Marketing research identifies specific marketing problems and whether there is a type of opportunity. Marketing research consist of collecting data and analyzing that data to make recommendations and to determine what type of actions are required. Marketing research is not always perfect but marketers conduct marketing research to identify and reduce potential risks and improve marketing decisions (Kerin, Hartley, & Rudelius, 2015).
There are times when new product or services fail because of the difference and incomplete market and product protocol before product development starts, or the company fails to please the customer needs on critical factors. Other reason s include the timing and quality or marketing mix and the products or services just do not appeal to customers (Kerin, Hartley, & Rudelius, 2015). Companies who develop new products or services typically use the seven stages to develop those new products or services. The seven stages consists of new product development, idea generation, screening and evaluation, business analysis, development, market testing, and commercialization. During theses stages the role is defined for the specific product, new ideas and defining the features of the new product, developing the marketing strategy and testing then launching the product (Kerin, Hartley, & Rudelius, 2015).
