My Experience At Universal Studios

Improved Essays
As the first speakers started off with today’s presentations, I was really intrigued and fascinated by the Industrial Engineers, Justin Melmick and Zac Stachowiak, as they talked about their job at Universal Studios and I’m pretty sure everybody else was too. Although it started off well, it did not exactly end off too interesting, since I think Dr. Damla Turgut and Dr. Alain Kassab’s presentation seemed kind of dull. I kind of felt like I zoned out during their presentations because I did not really understand a portion of the information that they talked about. Although Dr. Turgut and Dr. Kassab’s presentations could have done a better job at telling us about their fields, overall I did like today’s presentations. The first speakers, Justin Melmick and Zac Stachowiak, did an awesome job starting off today’s presentations, and I think that their presentation was the best. Although it was initially very weird seeing two people instead of one, I liked the way they engaged the audience and the topics that they talked about were really intriguing. It was interesting learning about the field of Industrial Engineer and what they did at Universal as Industrial Engineers. I never really knew what Industrial Engineers did, but now that Justin and Zac said that they are the people that try to make things more efficient and use algorithms to figure out trends and staffing for the parks. The information that Justin and Zac told us were like the information that was on O*Net that

They then began their deconstruction of scenes and analysis of issues. Their vodcast is well structured with a consistent discussion between Aaron and Harish. Compared to my vodcast the discussion is much better, they engage in discussing points far more frequently and more effectively then Tim and I did. There tone was similar to ours, they were clear and used terminology and jargon correctly.…

As a result, I did not know what to expect as I watched the meeting. I was shocked to find out that prior to the actual meeting they hold academic highlights and recognitions. I think it is sad that there are not many people there but at least students are being recognized from their accomplishments. I think this is great and shows what is being done in the school system especially with the Proud Tour. I do think that the official meeting was rather confusing.…

I really enjoyed the guest speaker, Cathleen Morgan and was quite impressed with her forsaking aspect of being on the board of education. She gave a new insight on the idea that we are no longer a minority and majority school district. Whites were truly the minority, of which 35% are Hispanics and 15% are black. The idea that teaching with these numbers is extremely hard to do and is a challenge. The challenge of experiencing a certain culture and gaining a new culture at the same time.…

Friday and Wednesday’s gallery walk was a huge learning experience. I learned so much about topics that I didn’t know anything about like Kent State, The Space Race and the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. When I was presenting I loved seeing how interested people were in my topic as was I. People had so many questions and it was great to be able to know so much and answer them. My topic was the John F. Kennedy assassination.…

I choose Human Trafficking because it is something that I do not know to much about personally. I have seen some of it in different forms of media, such as television and in the news, but other than that it is talked about very much. It was very interesting actually seeing facts about it. I did second guess myself when doing both Major Assignment one and Major Assignment two. It was due to the fact that it is very hard to find specific numbers on the number of people involved in it because it is an underground crime.…

The content material that stood out to me most this week of that of the Ted Talk of the experiences of Japanese Americans during the war and also the experiences of Native Americans. I think this is extremely beneficial to my learning process as I frequently consider the perspectives of the African American and Latino population, but rarely are the experiences of Asian Americans and Native Americans at the forefront of my mind. In addition, the Classroom Divided was also impactful as I have also seen videos with Jane in the past and her work is greatly depicts the oppression and discrimination experiences by minority groups. The usage of the blue eyed vs brown eyed people experiment is extremely powerful and a great representation of what…

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely and formally thank you for all you have done and made possible in helping me progress throughout my time here at SPC. My experience as a member of the Honors College has enhanced my life through the fellowship, better course environments, and the exceptional research conference opportunities and exposure that your leadership has provided. From a student’s standpoint ― especially an “unconventional” student such as myself ― you have given not only fresh and unique opportunities to myself and our membership, but you have given your heart and soul with the purpose of adding an advanced and totally positive learning environment. I know many Honors College alumni privately express this very same message to you ― but your total giving of time, energy, creativity, and true caring should receive far more formal acknowledgement.…

Being Mexican American I believed I had a bit of an unfair advantage taking this course. I was looking forward to learning more about my culture and myself but at the back of my mind I believed I would already know some of the material. I am very happy to say that I have learned a lot more than I expected. I have learned a lot about Hispanic cultures other than mine, politics, and economics, and many other topics but off all the things we covered in class the three that most stuck out to me were the early history of Latinos in the US, learning about privilege, and educational achievement of Latinos.…

We've accomplished a ton this week. Two completely different businesses were visited and some very insightful business people were met. I enjoyed Scott's work, but his down-to-earth personality made me realize how he can keep such good client relationships. Debt leveraging was my favorite take away from Scott's advice. The way he accumulated more debt to generate another source of income to keep one of his projects afloat was inspiring.…
