The person who I admire and believe to be an effective leader is Mark Zuckerberg. Mark Elliot Zuckerberg was born in White Plains, New York on May 14, 1984. He is the co-founder of Facebook, a Computer Programmer, and an Internet Entrepreneur. He designed Facebook in his dorm room while attending Harvard University. During his sophomore year he decided to drop out of college so that he can solely focus on his project of launching which is now known as the social networking site called Facebook (Wikipedia.com, May 14, 2016). The leadership style approaches that mark Zuckerberg demonstrate are democratic, laissez-faire, and transformational approaches. The democratic style approach is when leaders involves their followers in the decision making process. Mark Zuckerberg reveals this approach through his hackathon event that is held every few weeks for people to participants in a one night competition where people have to devise a plan or idea and complete a project (Wikipedia.com, May 14, 2016). This allows people to become creative and share their ideas that Mark Zuckerberg could use to better the Facebook work environment or the social networking website. The laissez-faire style is somewhat similar to the democratic style approach but it also involves Mark Zuckerberg using and hands-off approach and allowing his team to make decisions for themselves.
