An Overachiever Dreamers are born every day, but it is up to us to make our dreams come true. Some of us are born with talents that we have not discovered at the moment, due to the fact; we do not push ourselves to do our best. We, as people, cannot blame it on the lack of education or wealth. There is a story behind every novelist that helps them express themselves. Visualize the joy and pain of Mark Twain as I speak on his life and achievements. In Florida, Missouri, there was a starry night and the Haley’s Comet was visible, on November 30, 1835. This was the night Samuel Langhorne Clemens, originally known as Mark Twain, was born. He was the sixth child born to his father John Marshall Clemens and mother Jane Lampton Clemens. …show more content…
Samuel was age 12 when his father passed of pneumonia. His father was the only source of income, so this forced the family into economic struggle (Biography.com Editors). Samuel knew he needed to provide for his family, and at age 13, he found his first job at the Hannibal Courier as an apprentice printer. In 1851, at age 15, he got a job as a printer and editorial assistant at the Hannibal Western Union that was owned by his brother, Orion. It was here that Samuel discovered he enjoyed writing (Estate of Mark Twain). In 1857, Samuel learned the art of piloting a steamboat, and he was a licensed pilot by 1859. This began the stage of regular employment for Samuel. He was able to bring in a decent income for a couple of years, but his career was cut short in 1861 by the Civil War. This had brought traffic on the river to a standstill. Samuel knew income was still needed. So, he decided to form a volunteer group known as the “Marion Rangers” to team up with the Confederate Army in June of that year, but that only lasted two …show more content…
This improved his social status. Twain’s desire was for his tender wife to improve him as a human being. The newlyweds moved to Buffalo, where they began their family. They had four children; a son named Langdon Clemens, and three daughters by the names of Susy, Clara, and Jean Clemens (Estate of Mark Twain). Twain’s wife was his good luck charm, because he had much success in his career. Mark Twain wrote numerous short stories, letters, sketches, and book such as, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” that was published in 1876 and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” that was published in 1885 (Estate of Mark Twain).
