Mark Twain's A Boy At War

If you want to know more about Pearl Harbor you will not have a high-flying adventure with the book Boy at War. Obviously the book would be interesting if you have never learned about Pearl Harbor. That's why I will talk about the summary of it, and if the information is fact or fiction. The book A Boy at War is a easy read but when you get towards the end it will be hard to understand what's happening. The book is about the attack on Pearl Harbor. Adam is the son of a Navy sailor who has taught him the manners of a Navy sailor. Adam just moved to Honolulu because his father got stationed there on the U.S.S Arizona. The first thing I found was that the book said the the U.S.S Arizona was sunk by an underwater missile which created a big explosion. According to pearlharborsurvivorsonline.org the boat was hit by an armor piercing bomb that hit the front deck and collapsed the whole front deck of the ship. The information I found was incorrect according to the website. Next, the second thing I found in the book was that they saw about 355 Japanese planes attacking the harbor. History.com proved that to be correct with 355 planes approximately attacking Pearl Harbor. Finally, the last piece of information that stood out to me from the book was that it said that the U.S.S Arizona and Utah were the only ships totally sunk. Yet again History.com proves the book wrong again with 3 total ships unrecoverable, not two. This information is why the book is mostly fiction, not historical. Overall, Boy at War is a good book for first time learners. Yet some of the book is not telling the truth, also the summary is very confusing.
