Agency Setting The agency of focus is Mark Twain Elementary. Mark Twain Elementary is located in Lawndale, California. Mark Twain is one of six elementary schools within the Lawndale Elementary School District servicing the Lawndale community and neighboring communities. Mark Twain services both children and families whose children attend the school. The mission of Mark Twain Elementary is to ensure that all children who are enrolled at the school attain a strong academic education, become prepared for the toughness that middle school and high school may or may not bring, all the while preparing children with the skills and abilities to be successful in college. Approximately 84% of the students who are enrolled at Mark Twain are socio-economically disadvantaged. The student demographics of the school are 75% Hispanic, 10% African American, 5% Asian, 5% Caucasian, and 5% unspecified. According to City-data (2017) the Lawndale community demographics are as followed: 66.1% Hispanic, 13.7% White alone, 8.7% Asian alone, 7.9% Black alone, 3.2% two or more races, 0.3% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, 0.2% other race, and 0.4% American Indian alone.

Stigma hinders people from seeking care (Corrigan, 2004). According to author Corrigan (2004) other underlying reasons for this problem are objection from society, and a decreased level of self-esteem that may or may not come with the title of mental health services (Corrigan, 2004). Stigma, ultimately is a barrier that prevents individuals from seeking mental health services. Bio-psycho-social risks that accompany this problem, is parental mental health background, parental divorce, negative family environment, marital and family conflict. Protective factors associated with the problem are good coping skills, academic achievement, culture, religion, and self-regulation
