Mark Millar's Response To The 9/11 Attacks

We live in a very dangerous world today. We have global threats happening almost every day from various sources, and in various forms. About a decade and a half ago we had an attack we called 9/11, people were terrified after and frantically scrambled to some sense of security. A non-fictional example is from Mark Millar’s Civil War: A Marvel Comics, When a group of amatuer super humans cause an incident where hundreds of people were killed along with a few city blocks destroyed. Another example from historic Salem, Massachusetts when the threat of “Witches” came about people scrambled for security from being hung. The nation was in shock, people looked in every direction for some sense of security. Several bombings have also occurred, such as the Boston Marathon bombing and the New York Bombings. Security measures such as wiretapping, email monitoring, and more. Airport security processes became longer and more thorough. Public police have gotten more effective, call 911 for emergencies. The Patriot Act was passed allowing Law Enforcers to use more effective resources that help them do their job more efficiently. In Mark Millar’s Civil War a copious conflict arose over the “Stamford incident”. The people feared that the superhumans were going out of control and were not as safe as before thought. The conflict continued to escalate as Captain America and the superhumans that followed him rebelled. In one part of the comics Tony Stark was confronted by a lady whose son died in the Stamford incident and convinced him to side with the people and the government.
