In the story of Mark Mathabane he talks about his struggles of not wanting to go to school to get an education and at the end realizing how important it was for his mother for him to get an education. His father disagreed with the idea of him going to school and inbedded that idea in Mark Mathabane’s head. Mark did not understand the importance of an education. He thought life was about living in the streets and being street smart. It shouldn’t be that half of the world get better education and the other half not very well education. Another opinion is that all these authors have helped to shape education throughout the years. The saying that caught my eye the most was “Open the doors of your mind with books.” This quote relates to me because my family in my house would always say that books can help you in your education. The reason why they would tell me that was because when I was in middle school they would always say that by reading books can get you a good career because if we wouldn’t read any books we would not be able to get a job or graduate school. Without reading we wouldn’t be able to know what higher words would mean.
