I think Mark chose the first person narrative because he wanted to give us a different view of the world. Siobhan for instance is Christopher’s main teacher at school, but we are only given a very vague description “Siobhan has long blond hair and wears glasses which are made of green plastic. “ “… who has glasses so thick that they pass you a headache…” (Haddon 5, 44) as a proofreader, we would expect more of a description, merely because of Christopher’s disability it is not possible other than the very literal things. Mark overcomes this quite comfortably I intend by including quotations of the conversations Christopher is holding. For instance, in chapter 113 Siobhan in telling Christopher that when she is depressed she dream about being on a trip with her friend and the things they would do and see. (Haddon 79) He also included letters from Christopher’s mother, which was a very creative way of working round the limitations of Christopher’s character.
