Mark Batterson Bottle Analysis

Improved Essays
There are many interpretations of this scripture. The author, Mark Batterson (Batterson), gives an interesting and comedic interpretation of it. Batterson’s analysis states the bottle was representative of several things such as her past guilt and future hope, professional identity and financial security, a token of her profession of faith and her most prized possession. The pouring of the oil bottle was representative of what once kept her in sin was now going to release and free her. The breaking of the bottle was her commitment to unveiling her sins and walking into the light. This represented the woman’s time when she needed to fall full-weight on the grace of God and this was something we all need to take a page out of her book.
