Marjane

Marjane had just started school but she didn't it was the trimester already. The trimester of a school year is usually when the students have found associates or friends that they would be with for the year. Being that she came so late into the school year, it would be quite difficult to quickly find friends to hang with. Even though she had this challenge of establishing a schoolmate circle, she made it through better then most people. The fact that Marjane rapidly found a group shows that her communication and sociable skills are great or it was because she was a foreigner and kids are instantly interested in your story. Academically, she finds that she lacks a little in French but pretty good in Math and her impressible drawings of teachers is what attracted the children and brought attention to her. This group becomes Satrapi support system consisting of "an eccentric, a punk. two orphans, and a third-worlder..." Everybody were really interested in her story, Momo, in particular, was fascinated by death. They become very close and when Christmas arrived Marjane felt as like the outcast because all her family was still in Iran and they didn't celebrate the holiday there. Now her school friends went to various places: grandmothers, skiing, and annecy. So Lucia, her roommate from the orphanage, invites her to go home with her to Tyrol, a couple of hours out. Satrapi enjoys her time with Lucia family so she then gets that comfort she needed to feel like she has a true friend and a new set of parents in a sense. Every since she'd spent that time with Lucia and her parents she no longer got mad about being woken up early in the morning because of the blow-dryer. It shows that Marjane was aggressive about being woken up because she lack some of the things she needed as a young fourteen year old away from her parents and home but clearly she let it
