The HIT program prepares students to sit for the Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) certification through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

III: Medical Records Technician
A medical record technician maintains health records so that only people who should see them do. Sometimes records are needed for the patient, other physicians, or legal reasons. Someone has to process requests for records and ensure that they are only the authorized information is released. Being a RHIT will greatly increase your chances of becoming a records technician.
