Marion Pritchard Essay

Marion Pritchard, a World War II hero, put her life on edge every day. She was a Dutch woman who saved over 150 Jews. Marion was inspired to save all those Jews because of some Nazi officers. Marion witnessed some poor innocent Jewish children being thrown into a truck and decided that she wanted to try and help the Jews. She put her life on edge every time she helped the Jewish children to keep them safe. She did everything she could do in order to save as many Jews as possible, even if that meant killing. Marion Pritchard stands out as one of the heroes in World War II because she decided she was going to risk everything to help as many Jews as she could. For that, she is a hero. Marion Pritchard witnessed children being thrown into a truck and in that point in her life, it inspired her Before Marion witnessed this, she was more inverted and didn’t focus on her surroundings. Raoul Wallenberg’s website says, “In the spring of 1942 Pritchard saw Nazis loading children, ages 2 to 8, onto trucks. “I was shocked and in tears,” Pritchard said, “and after that I knew my rescue work was more important than anything else I might be doing.” (Burns). She did as many things as possible to keep the lives of the Jews out of danger such as breaking the law by falsifying documents. “Along with about 10 friends, she helped obtain false identity documents and hiding places to help Jews evade arrest. Despite several food shortages, they scrounged up extra ration cards and provisions. She put her social work training to use by finding host families to take in Jewish children and prepare the families for the perils they faced.” (Langer). At that time, it was against the law to shelter Jews. Food was very scarce, so getting extra ration cards was illegal. Marion defied the law to help
