Mario Pei Essay

Mario Pei was a dedicated linguist and tried his hardest to make the community of language move on to a new chapter when he developed a new language and a book to teach everybody how to speak it. Noam Chomsky is regarded as one of the greatest linguist in history because of his contributions regarding transformational grammar. Pei and Chomsky contributed to the language community of the world in many important ways. Mario Pei’s contributions although the greatest where unsuccessful makes him a more important figure in the language community because he did it for the people of the world, so everyone could communicate with each other. Mario Pei is a more important figure in the theory of language than Noam Chomsky, simply because he did it for the right reasons, he did it for the people and talked in ways the common person would understand.
Most people with a minute college experience in freshman level college classes will recall hearing the name Noam Chomsky, while a vast majority may go all the way through college without hearing the name Mario Pei, but yet Noam …show more content…
So Pei did not only create a new language, and write a book explaining how to use the language to the highest potential, but also went to the extremes to explain how it could be the world wide language and how to actually achieve it. Then to top it all Pei sent a copy of this book to every head of state in the world for free. Pei wanted all the schools in the world to teach Esperanto as a second language to all the children to start phasing the world into one language and so that later in the future it would not matter where somebody else was from or what language is native to their culture, anybody would be able to communicate with
