The only easy day was yesterday. That is the U.S. Navy SEAL’s motto. That quote refers to the training that our country’s military goes through to be ready to serve and defend. There are four main branches in the United States military but only three are usually deployed on the ground. The three that are usually on the ground are the Marines, Army, and the Navy. Semper Fidelis is the United States Marine Corp’s motto and is Latin for always faithful or loyal and it is instilled into the recruits from the time that they enlist. The Marines are the amphibious branch of the United States Military which means that they work both in the water and on land. Marine training starts with twelve weeks of basic training split into three phases. …show more content…
The Army is the main land based branch in the United States Military. Army training lasts ten weeks and is separated into five different phases. The first phase is the introduction into basic training where they explain what will be happening and is also known as Reception Week. The second phase, otherwise called the Red Phase, is when the recruits learn about teamwork and start doing field exercises. White Phase focuses on building confidence and works on marksmanship and rappelling. Blue Week continues with weapons training but also adds in the Night Infiltration Course. Following Blue Week is graduation from basic. After they graduate basic they move on to more training to keep them ready if the need is to arise. The military is constantly changing how they train to keep everyone safer and to make sure that everyone is ready and can survive in the climates and environments they need to in order to do their job. As the Navy SEAL’s motto says “The only easy day was yesterday” so the military has to be prepared for the future. They have increased training time and qualifications to help keep the land they love safe. The training may be tough but it is for the good of the country and the rest of the soldiers out
