I loved the concept of studying unknown creatures that sit miles below the surface of our planet that no human has ever seen. I’ve read many textbooks and field guides over the years, which started as an amusing pastime. I just earned my AA in Biology this past December. I have a small break right now because I have a full scholarship at Tuskegee University and it starts in the fall, so basically I am using this break to prepare myself for the MCAT and volunteer at hospitals. Before I go to Tuskegee University, doing research will be an important step to my future. It will allow me to use all the skills I have learned and share it with people in the scientific field and do more research. My main goal through all of this is to help the community and to be one of the vital elements in the advancement of the chemical and medical fields.…

My intention for participating in this faculty led trip is to first experience and explore a new culture and second to learn more about something I have always enjoyed; marine life. I have always loved traveling and exploring, especially when it has a positive impact on other people or, in this case, an ecosystem filled with life. As a member of the QU Women's Soccer Team and an Athletic Training/Physical Therapy student, my academic and athletic schedule makes it very difficult to do any study abroad or service trips during the school year.
