One reason is that the marine animals’ life span and health decreases. One way their health gets worse in captivity is that their tricks cause them to injure themselves. Most of the time, their dorsal fin breaks apart or rips off. Frightening, right? It is not fair that animals have to injure themselves just because of us. They also have equal rights. Another piece of evidence that supports the fact that the marine animals’ health and life span decreases in the tanks is that the bacteria and chemicals, like chlorine, used in tanks peel of their skin. Animals have to listen to filtration systems, pumps, music, fireworks, and people yelling and clapping everyday. These noises are even worse inside the tanks because the tanks are poorly designed. As stated above, tanks are designed for humans’ visibility, not for comfortability. Also,echolocation cannot be used. Echolocation is marine animals’ main sensory system. In captivity, animals cannot communicate with anyone or anything. Their captivity place gives them no chance or space to explore. Another fact is that marine animals travel over one hundred miles each day, but barely can swim even a few miles and tanks.
