Being a star can be hard, being a new star in the world of passing trends and short attention spans is even harder. A new star can be tempted by a lot in the world of fame, the promising career of many talents, the temptation only increases with beauty. If you’re hot you’re there, you’re in the light, if you’re not there’s just not enough room. Still, being pretty isn’t enough, dancing, singing, modeling, acting whatever you name it, they have to do. It gets to a point doesn’t it? Marilyn Monroe said that “Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul.” and we see how Hollywood did just that to a smart blonde.
First off let’s just get this straight, Marilyn Monroe is not a true blonde, just like most of Hollywood, it is fake. Passing through husbands and scandals Marilyn is like any other in the spotlight, no matter the time period, yet she is praised for her looks no matter what she did. Re-quoted and rewritten Marilyn has grown from a beauty star to an icon, a title not many can achieve. Most people these days look over or are ignorant to the fact that Marilyn was actually very wise, even owning her own production company and sitting with a

Pin-up pictures, eating habits, dresses, her personal monsters and any real dirt she seemed to have. The masses enjoy ripping apart a carcass after (and during) it’s life, no matter the substance behind the breasts it’s all about flesh. Of course the people back then were the same I’m sure, she once had to be sewn into a skin tight dress for a performance, yet I’m sure no one really cared as she looked

In order for one to understand media's depiction of Marilyn in the time ear she lived you first have to understand the gender roles women played in the fifties and sixties. Both the 1950s and 1960s were a time when women’s femininity and traditional gender roles were stressed beyond all else and Marilyn didn't necessarily express the moral roles women were expected to carry out. She was just a different unique individual who didn't follow everyone's footsteps. Monroe played a huge role in the 1950s because she was well known by everyone and that's what makes her important.…

There was a time, before sound was introduced to film and culture was hand picked for society, when stars were born and bred on the stage. Actors who grew an understanding of their craft by clocking in rehearsal hours, feeding off an audience during live performances, and praying to the right gods, were signed on for a starring role in a film: an advancement in their career. Today, the craft of acting and the medium in which an actor is showcased have changed landscapes and the up-and-coming “starving actor” is struggling for work. Casting for film has long been equated to having the right “look” and there seems to only be two ways to get your feet on a Broadway stage: insane talent and luck or celebrity status. Broadway’s marquees have historically been crowded by celebrity names that draw audiences and drive ticket prices up, and with recent seasons, it seems more impossible than ever to see a green name receive the top bill— raising concerns that big names are cast for profit and not artistic integrity.…

Is it possible to turn the status of talentless and born-to-wealth into something that the public would become infatuated with for the next decade? Paris Hilton, now 36 years old, did just that when she stormed the media and became the original famous for being famous celebrity way back in 2003. I recall my introduction to the blonde socialite, at the young age of four; unlike the rest of the world, I was unaware and uncaring of her questionable rise to fame - to me, she was the living embodiment of Barbie. I would chant facts I knew about Paris Hilton to my preoccupied and uninterested parents like “She owns a pink Bentley!” and “Not only does she live in a mansion, she has a miniature version of it for her dogs to live in too!”.…
