Marilyn Monroe, born as Norma Jeane Baker was an american actress and model born on June 1st 1926 in Los Angeles, California. Norma Jeane’s unwed and widowed mother, Gladys Pearl Baker suffered a mental breakdown at the time of her birth. Growing up, Norma Jeane was unaware of who her real father was. Norma Jeane had an harsh childhood transferring from different foster homes while her mother was hospitalized and spent most of her life in institutions. When Norma Jeane turned 16, to avoid being sent to another foster home, she got married to James Dougherty, her 21 year old boyfriend at that time on June 19, 1942. Unfortunately, the marriage did not last long and they divorced in 1946.

Her small part in The Asphalt Jungle (1950) garnered her a lot of attention and was the start to her success career. After her contract expired with Twentieth-Century, her friend and agent Johnny Hyde got her some small roles at Columbia Pictures. They met in Los Angeles in 1951, he was 39 while she was 28. Unfortunately their marriage only lasted 9 months and Monroe filed for a divorce. In 1955 Twentieth-Century signed her to a new seven year contract. The following year Marilyn Monroe married for the third time to playwright Arthur Miller. Three times during their marriage they announce she was pregnant, but she lost the child each time and divorced in 1961.

During Marilyn Monroe’s acting career of 16 years she accomplished and made a total of 29 films while 24 films being made the first 8 years of her career. Even throughout the mid 1950’s she continued to find success through the film There’s No Business Like Show Business (1954) and The Seven Year Itch (1955). In 1954 and 1962 she won a Golden Globe Henrietta Award for World Film Favorites and in 1960 she won a Golden Globe award for best actress for the film Some Like It Hot
