Marilyn’s anxiousness to see her brother lead her to undertake dangerous decisions which ultimately, lead to her death. If it wasn’t Barton’s duty to deliver the serum to the six workers, then Barton would have to make a decision. Barton would have to choose whether he would save Marilyn by removing the weight of the serum to compensate for Marilyn’s weight or jettisoning Marilyn to cure the six workers. If Barton were to save Marilyn, six workers would suffer, but if Marilyn is sacrificed, all six are cured and get to live. If we view everyone as equals, we would consider the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. Since six workers were ill and were in need of the serum, they as a group out value Marilyn. Although Marilyn was very young and innocent, she was responsible for her actions. Regardless how naive and simple-minded her decisions may be, Marilyn took full responsibility for her actions and understood the fatal mistake she made. She understood that there was no possible way to safely bring her to Mimir or back to Earth. She was very fortunate to say her goodbyes to her brother through the communicator before accepted
